JMI Vox Wah - Made in Italy c. 1967

As well as the British-made JMI Vox wah, there was an Italian JMI Vox. It's a bit battered, but you'd wait a long time for a mint one to turn up. These are exceptionally hard to find - much less common than even the grey Vox wah.

This one has lost its serial number sticker, but others I've seen had numbers in the 3xxx and 7xxx range, making them concurrent with the "signature" Clyde McCoys.

Vox received the Queen's Award to Industry for 1967 in recognition of their export achievements.

The circuit is exactly the same as that of the better known Clyde McCoy.

Like the early grey Vox wahs, these had the circuit potted to deter competitors. Some signature Clydes made around this time also had their circuits potted.

ICAR pot and Arrow SPDT switch. Some had Bulgin DPDT switches, but still wired without true bypass.

The ICAR stamp on the pot is just visible.
